How to Convert Images Locally

1

Upload File

Select your target image. We natively support high-efficiency formats like iPhone HEIC alongside standard JPEGs, PNGs, and WebPs.

2

Select Output Format

Choose between WebP (for modern web performance), JPEG (for universal compatibility), or PNG (for lossless transparency).

3

Real-time Encoding

Our engine uses the HTML5 Canvas API to repaint the image entirely within your browser. If converting a transparent PNG to JPEG, utilize the dynamic color picker to fill the background.

4

Secure Download

Save the newly encoded file directly to your hard drive. Because the file is visually redrawn, 100% of the original EXIF and GPS tracking data is inherently wiped clean.

Supported Format Matrix

Understanding the technical nuances of your target format ensures the best balance between visual fidelity and file size.

  • HEIC to JPEG Pipeline Modern Apple devices capture images in High Efficiency Image Coding (HEIC). While excellent for saving space on an iPhone, these files are largely unsupported on Windows PCs and legacy web browsers. This tool integrates a specialized decoder to break down HEIC containers and re-encode them into universally accessible JPEGs.
  • WebP Optimization WebP is a modern image format engineered by Google that provides superior lossless and lossy compression for images on the web. Converting standard PNGs or JPEGs into WebP can drastically reduce file size without a noticeable drop in quality, improving website load times.
  • Zero-Trust Privacy Design Unlike cloud-based converters that upload your personal photographs to a remote server, this tool executes strictly in your browser's local memory. The image is loaded into a local DOM element, drawn onto an invisible canvas, and exported directly back to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did my file size increase after converting?

Converting an image is not the same as compressing it. If you convert a highly optimized WebP file into a PNG, the file size will massively increase because PNG is a "lossless" format that stores every single pixel explicitly. To reduce file size, you need our dedicated Image Compressor.

What happens to the transparent background in my PNG?

If you convert a transparent PNG or WebP into a format that supports transparency (like another PNG or WebP), the transparency is preserved perfectly. However, the JPEG format mathematically cannot handle transparency. If you target JPEG, our engine allows you to pick a "Matting Color" to seamlessly fill the transparent areas.

Is there a maximum file size limit?

Because the tool runs purely on client-side logic, the only limit is the available Random Access Memory (RAM) on your device. Most modern smartphones and laptops can easily decode and convert files up to 100MB without crashing the browser tab.

Are my EXIF tags preserved during the conversion?

No. As a byproduct of the Canvas rendering process, all hidden metadata, including camera models, timestamps, and embedded GPS location coordinates, are systematically abandoned. The output file is forensically clean.
